With Yom Kippur and Sukkos on the horizon, CityPass, which operates the Jerusalem light rail, is preparing for the hundreds of thousands of expected commuters.

On motzei Shabbos before Yom Kippur, light rail service will run at 10-minute intervals from 20:00 to midnight instead of 14-minute intervals. Additional trains will be placed into service beginning at midnight until 02:00, thereby extending operating hours and these trains will run at 12-minute intervals.

On Sukkos, beginning at 09:00 on chol hamoed until 20:00, trains will operate at 6-minute intervals. From 20:00 until 22:00, trains will operate at 11.5-minute intervals instead of 14.5-minute intervals.

Additional manpower will be operating to assists rides unfamiliar with the system, with an emphasis placed at machines selling tickets to the light rail as well as major stops in town. There will also be sukkas in place for the convenience of riders at major stations – with the exact locations to be announced.
