Chicago… The 711 store at 2741 W. Touhy includes a Slurpee machine that is kosher certified by the Chicago Rabbinical Council (cRc).

The week prior to Pesach the store sold 700 Slurpees a day but once the holiday started sales dropped to 100 Slurpees a day. According to Rabbi Sholem Fishbane, Kashrus Administrator of the cRc, the agency certifies a long list of flavors, albeit not all. It recently added such flavors as Fruitworks Peach Lemonade, Diet Cherry Frost (Coke Product), Happy St. Valentine’s Day Chicago Caramel Apple (also listed as just Caramel Apple) (Pepsi Product), Airheads Extreme Rainbow Berry (Master Chill Product), Mtn. Dew Game Fuel Berry Lime, and Mtn. Dew Game Fuel Citrus Cherry.

The kosher certified Slurpees are part of a growing kosher presence for the 711 stores. One manager said that the kosher Slurpees certainly help attract kosher customers “and encourages them to buy many other products that are kosher.” Some 711 stores have gone the extra mile even serving Chalav Yisrael and Glatt kosher products including hotdogs.
