The FBI is investigating whether Jeremy Joseph Christian will be charged with federal hate crimes

The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) on Saturday released a statement condemning Friday's attack in Portland, Oregon in which two men were killed and one seriously injured after confronting a man shouting racial slurs at two women on a train.

ADL CEO Jonathan Greenblatt, began by sending condolences to the families of Ricky John Best and Taliesin Myrddin Namkai Meche and sending best wishes to Micah David-Cole Fletcher who was seriously injured in the attack.

Greenblatt said that his organization was "sounding the alarm about domestic terrorism and hate crimes in America," calling the Portland attack the "latest in a long string of violent incidents connected to right-wing extremists."

He concluded by calling on US leaders and lawmakers to "condemn this brutal act of terror and craft policy to counter all forms of violent extremism, including white supremacy."

Jeremy Joseph Christian was allegedly yelling at two female passengers on the light-rail, one of which was wearing a traditional Muslim head scarf, when the men intervened to protect their fellow passengers. Police said Christian then stabbed the three men.
