University of Tennessee at Martin was put on lockdown after a report of a shooting near campus.

Communications Director Bud Grimes said the campus had been placed on lockdown as a precaution and an alert has been sent out.

Martin Police Chief Don Teal said officers responded to a report of shots fired near Mt. Pelia Road.

Teal said preliminary information indicates a fight started on campus and spilled into the street. During the altercation, shots were fired, and no one was injured.

Teal said three people are believed to be involved. One has been arrested.
