President-elect Donald Trump broke bread with fierce critic and now-possible cabinet pick Mitt Romney Tuesday night at Jean Georges Restaurant in Trump International Hotel.

Trump, joined by his chief of staff designate Reince Priebus, sat with Romney at the fancy French eatery in Columbus Circle.

The meeting took place after a weekend of internal strife in his campaign over whether to hire the former Massachusetts governor as Secretary of State.

The president-elect and his guest were greeted by a polite round of applause by the diners at the restaurant.

For an appetizer the trio sipped garlic soup and chomped on frog legs.

Then they devoured diver scallops before the main course.

Trump and Priebus ate prime sirloin while Romney had lamb chops.

All three had chocolate cake for dessert.

The meeting was a show of a truce after a blistering presidential campaign.

During a speech in March, Romney derided Trump as a “phony, a fraud.”

He added that the presidential hopeful was “playing members of the American public for suckers.”

Trump responded by saying Romney “choked like a dog” in the 2012 presidential election against President Obama.

Despite the animosity, the two appeared to be thick as thieves on Tuesday night — with Romney singing Trump’s praises as soon as he exited the restaurant.

“It’s not easy to win, I know that myself,” Romney told reporters. “He did something I tried to do and was unsuccessful in accomplishing. He won the general election and he continues with a message of inclusion and bringing people together, and his vision is something which obviously connected with the American people in a very powerful way.”

The former governor remained mum on what was discussed during the meal, but did go on to praise Trump for the way he’s been handling the presidential transition.

“The last few weeks he’s been carrying out a transition effort and I have to tell you, I’ve been impressed by what I’ve seen,” Romney said. “The people he’s selected as members of his cabinet are solid, effective, capable people — some of them I know very well.”

Romney added that he believed “America’s best days are ahead of us” — and that Trump would ultimately help keep it that way.

“I think you’re gonna see America continue to lead the world in this century,” Romney said. “What I’ve seen through these discussions I’ve had with President-elect Trump, as well as what we’ve seen in his speech on the night of his victory, as well as the people he’s selected as part of his transition, all of those things combined give me increasing hope that President-elect Trump is the very man who can lead us to that better future.”

Tuesday night’s dinner is the second meeting between the two GOP heavyweights since Trump won the presidential election.
