SUNNY ISLES BEACH (CBSMiami) — Six people were injured in an explosion at a Sunny Isles Beach building Friday.

Miami Dade Fire Rescue said four civilians and two firefighters were injured.

Around noon, numerous fire rescue trucks could be seen near the Chateau Beach Residences building located at 17475 Collins Avenue. The condo did not have residents but construction crews were in the building when there was an explosion in the boiler room.

Chopper4 was over the scene as a section of the top of the building could be seen collapsed near the boiler room.

Numerous fire trucks and rescue trucks were parked near the building.

The aftermath of the explosion reached a nearby building, the Travelodge Monaco, in which two people ended up trapped in the elevator but were later rescued. Another person at the hotel suffered minor injuries after being hit by debris.

Some traffic could also be seen in the area due to the incident.
