Maryland State Police are searching for the driver of a SUV who struck and killed a person standing next to a car on a ramp connecting the Northbound Jones Falls Expressway and the Baltimore Beltway.

The incident occurred at around 1:30 Sunday morning.

Troopers say the driver of the mid 2000s BMW struck the pedestrian who was standing next to the car that was parked on the right shoulder. The SUV also struck the car.  The driver sped away.  Troopers say the SUV has significant damage to its passenger side, and the passenger side mirror was recovered at the scene.

The victim is identified as Ramon J. Purvey, 30, of Owings Mills, Md.  He was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.

The suspect vehicle is identified as a blue BMW X5, possibly between 2000-2003, with Pennsylvania registration. The suspect vehicle was last seen driving erratically on the outer loop of I-695 and exiting onto northbound Stevenson Road.
