Five counties are included in the advisory for snow, sleet and freezing rain.

The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for snow, sleet and freezing rain in parts of Maryland. The advisory — effective from 4 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 14 — calls for up to 1 inch of snow and a trace of ice.

Included in the advisory are Anne Arundel, Baltimore, Carroll, Harford and Howard counties.

There will be icy patches on the roads, according to weather officials, who issue winter weather advisories when wintry weather is expected to make travel hazardous.

Visibility may be limited, and drivers should use extra caution.

Temperatures are expected to be around 30 degrees.
