The application period to be considered for a BOOST tuition scholarship comes to an end this coming Monday night July 11th at 11:59 pm.

All those who have already completed their application, uploaded the necessary files, and submitted it on the Maryland State Department of Education’s BOOST webpage --- THANK YOU FOR DOING SO and you don’t need to do anything more.

FOR THOSE WHO HAVE NOT - If your household income is within the financial eligibility bracket determined by the FARMs (Free and Reduced-Price School Meals) income verification formula (click here), PLEASE DO SO ASAP – by going to the BOOST webpage - http://www.marylandpublicschools.org/boost/. Remember: a separate application is needed for each child for whom you wish to receive a scholarship.

BOOST OPEN HOUSE - To assist those who may have had difficulty with the application or do not internet access, Bais Yaakov of Baltimore has graciously offered to host a BOOST Open House this Sunday evening July 10th from 7 – 9 pm at their high school building at 6302 Smith Ave. Any necessary computer hardware and software will be available for anyone to come and complete their BOOST applications. In addition to several staff and volunteers who will be there to assist in the process, I will also be there to answer any questions that come up.

PLEASE BRING ALONG WITH YOU THE FOLLOWING ITEMS OR INFO:

  • Child’s Date of Birth
  • Parent’s social security #
  • Your 2015 tax return
  • Those without a tax return please bring other income verifying documents (may include a Budget Letter from the Dept of Social Services, a W-2 wage form or income pay stubs)
  • Those participating in food supplement programs, please bring your nine digit case number

Your school will provide you with a letter verifying the student’s enrollment status which will be uploaded with the application together with the tax or income documents.

Please remember that it is critically important that all families that are within the FARMs income bracket apply for each of their children – even if they are towards the top of the eligibility scale (and thus less likely to be awarded a scholarship). We are looking at the long-term picture of this program’s continuity and potential expansion, and showing a greater need (than the current $5 million allocation) is critical.

Thanks for your participation in this endeavor and have a wonderful summer.
