The reception (for men) will take place on Monday evening, July 11th at the home of Gil and Molly Horwitz @ 8:30 P.M. at 3210 Fallstaff Road.

Baltimore, MD - June 29, 2016 - The Baltimore Friends of Yeshivas Mir Yerushalayim have been hard at work planning this year’s Shabbos of Chizuk and Annual Benefit Reception, aiming to make it the most successful one ever.

As a prelude to the Benefit Reception, HaRav Nissan Kaplan, shlita, will grace the community for Shabbos Parshas Korach, speaking in various shuls throughout the neighborhood. HaRav Kaplan is one of the Mir’s outstanding maggidei shiur whose warm and lively approach makes him especially popular with its American students. The clarity and depth of his messages are especially relevant to the challenges faced by the Jewish community today.  Details of all speaking venues will follow shortly.

Gil and Molly Horwitz have agreed to open their home as the gracious hosts of this year’s Annual Benefit. The Horwitz family has spent their last few summers in Eretz Yisroel with Gil learning at the Mir during the morning Seder. They consider it a privilege to partner with an institution of its size and caliber whose Torah benefits all of Klal Yisroel. The reception (for men) will take place on Monday evening, July 11th at 8:30 P.M. at 3210 Fallstaff Road.

The Rosh Hayeshiva, Harav Eliezer Yehuda Finkel, Shlita, will be coming in from Eretz Yisroel to Baltimore this year and grace the community with his presence at the Reception. HaRav Nachman Levovitz, shlita, will once again fly in from Eretz Yisroel to meet and greet members of the community and attend the event.  In the 26 years that HaRav Nachman has been coming to Baltimore, he has developed close relationships with many families.

Mir Yerushalayim currently has an enrollment of over 8,500 talmidim with an annual budget of over $42,000,000. The Baltimore Community has over one hundred students learning in the Yeshiva, and over 400 alumni residing in Baltimore.

Precisely five years ago the Baltimore community was privileged to host, for the first time ever, the late Rosh HaYeshiva, Hagaon HaRav Nosson Tzvi Finkel, zt”l.  The lasting impression of his warmth and gentle demeanor, along with his heart-warming praise of the community at large, will remain etched in our memories. The Rosh HaYeshiva, zt”l, will surely be looking down from Above and reaping nachas as we all join together again and show our appreciation for this fortress of Torah.

A very special group of dedicated talmidim and askanim are working tirelessly to plan an enriching and uplifting visit. With these efforts it will surely create the kind of Kiddush Hashem in Baltimore, and leave the community inspired throughout the summer months.
