Meet NCSY's new national board: teen leaders from across the continent will guide NCSY and spearhead its national programming

NCSY, the Orthodox Union’s international youth movement, has just elected its new board of teen officers from across North America. Sarah Engel of Piedmont, California will serve as national president.

The communities and regions they represent also include San Diego; Baltimore and Silver Spring in Maryland; Boca Raton and Hollywood in Florida; Denver; Philadelphia; Buffalo and Monsey in New York; Southfield, Michigan; Vancouver; and Passaic, New Jersey.

The names and bios of the elected officers are:

Sarah Engel

Piedmont, CA

National President 

Sarah Engel is from the incredible NorCal Chapter of the West Coast region. She just started her senior year at Meira Academy. She has been involved in NCSY since the beginning of eighth grade. Aside from NCSYing, Sarah loves learning Torah, chilling with friends and swimming.

 


Phillip Dolitsky

Philadelphia

National Ambassador of Education

Phillip attends Kohelet Yeshiva High School in Philadelphia.  Aside from learning Torah, Phillip has a love of music. He plays the piano and saxophone and loves classical, jazz and Jewish music.  For Phillip, being a part of NCSY means belonging to a family - a family of role models and inspiration.

 

Jasmine Kerbel

Baltimore

National Ambassador of Social Media

Jasmine attends Beth Tfiloh Dahan Community School in Baltimore.  She loves singing, acting and photography.  For Jasmine, NCSY is a place to grow spiritually and religiously while having fun and making new friends.

 

Asher Gritz

Boca Raton, FL

National Ambassador of Social Action

Asher is a senior at DKJA in Boca Raton, Florida and throughout high school NCSY has been a huge part of his life. In addition to consistently striving to grow in his Judaism, he has also dedicated his time both inside and outside of school to eagerly pursuing his passion for NCSY. He is super excited to further his involvement this year and continue to help NCSY do as they do best: Inspiring the Jewish Future!

 

Hannah Sanders

Buffalo, NY

National Ambassador of Social Action

Hannah attends Sweet Home High School in Amherst. In her free time, she enjoys playing field hockey, painting, cooking, baking, and reading.  For Hannah, NCSY means is a place to make Jewish friends.
 

Esther Seif

Monsey, NY

National Ambassador of Social Action

Esther Seif attends Bruriah High School for Girls in Elizabeth, NJ. Her hobbies include playing guitar and football (Go Jets!). For Esther, NCSY is a second home where she can develop herself into the person and leader she wants to become.

 

 Kip Glickman

Southfield, MI

National Ambassador of Social Media

Kip Glickman is from Detroit, Michigan and attends Oakland Early College.  Kip has been involved in NCSY for the last 4 years, and has served on his chapter and regional board (Shoutout to Central East!).  His interests include sports, music, making people laugh, rapping, and writing.  NCSY is where Kip can feel proud to be a Jew, and where he feels at home. 

 

Shanee Markovitz

Hollywood, FL

National Ambassador of Education

When Shanee is not studying in Yeshiva High School or having an amazing time at Southern NCSY, you can find her writing (creatively), watching a crime court case on Youtube, or hanging out with friends and family. For Shanee, NCSY is all about ensuring an outstanding future for herself and for the Jewish nation. It is a place where she feels pushed to grow as a leader  and as a person, while meetings friends and role models that last a lifetime.
 

Arianna Stone

Silver Spring, MD

National Ambassador of Summer Programs

Arianna Stone is a senior at Berman in Maryland.  She is involved in Israel advocacy and loves TED Talks and rock climbing. Arianna has been a part of NCSY for three years now and it inspires her not only religiously, but also to become the best version of herself.

 

Shua Friedman

Denver

National Ambassador of Education

Shua just moved to Denver from Memphis, TN. and currently attends the Denver Academy of Torah. He enjoys playing sports, especially basketball, and music is his passion. NCSY has been in his family for over 40 years, and he says it gives him the opportunity to make connections with all types of Jews while also giving him the tools to grow spiritually.

 

Shayna Horvath

Vancouver

National Ambassador of Summer Programs

Shayna Horvath is a senior at York House School in Vancouver, Canada. Her hobbies include community service and sports, especially rowing. She has been involved with Vancouver NCSY throughout all of high school and NCSY is really important to her because of the impact it has on people's lives.
 

Daniel Krasner

San Diego, CA

National Ambassador of Summer Programs

Daniel Krasner is from San Diego California and attends University City High School.  Daniel loves (and plays!) lacrosse, soccer, and tennis.   Other hobbies include listening to music, skateboarding, surfing, shape hand planes, and swim. He volunteers with the Hand Up Youth Food Pantry where he is a teen leader board member.

 

Sophia Stepansky

Passaic, NJ

National Ambassador of Education

Sophia Stepansky goes to Bruriah High School in New Jersey. She loves learning Torah, listening to music, dancing and reading. Sophia loves NCSY because it inspires her to take an active role in shaping the Jewish future.
