Scouting For Cookies

On this blustery, crisp Sunday one great way to warm your heart and satisfy your hunger is to stop by and visit with the newest "merchants" in town.Situated outside TOV Pizza sits Girl Scout Troop #1726 whose membership of 9 young women raises funds for their activities by selling Girl Scout cookies which carry an OU-D.
The weather isn't the only thing that's brisk; sales are exceeding expectations and with all flavors available there are cookies for everyone. The appreciative smile you receive when making a purchase is worth much more than the $4 per box for the cookies.
Says Troop leader, Atara Lazar, "we are a part of the Central MD Girl Scouts and the funds raised help us offer activities for the girls that help give them a greater view of the world through their creative projects and outdoor activities. These girls, known in Scout lingo as 'Daises', attend Bais Yaakov and Yeshivat Rambam and a few are home-schooled.
Mrs. Lazar hearkens back to her years as a scout and wants to give her daughter and those of others those same benefits she experienced from her time in the Girl Scouts.
The upper echelon of the Girl Scouts, headquartered on Seton Road, have been extremely cooperative with this Orthodox Jewish troop - vis a vis Shabbos - and try as best as they can to schedule events on Sundays so as to incorporate everyone in their plans.
The young entrepreneurs will be open for business in front of TOV Pizza each Sunday through the end of November (Nov. 28th), from 11AM-1PM and from 4PM-6PM, except for Sunday, Nov. 14th when they will be located in front of the Giant in the Reisterstown Road Plaza.

TO those who are interested in the Girl Scouts - the contact information for Mrs. Lazar is in the Eruv Book - Also remember that BaltimoreJewishLife.com has a great phone book section - add the information there so that everyone can get to it!
