Jordanian monarch demands Israel prosecute stabbing attack victim, despite hearing results of Israeli investigation. Jordan's King Abdullah reacted furiously to Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu's warm welcome of the embassy security guard who was injured in a stabbing attack near the Israeli embassy in Jordan Sunday. The officer, who has only been identified by his first name, Ziv, was lightly injured when a Jordanian worker stabbed him with screwdriver at Ziv’s residence adjacent to the embassy. After he was stabbed, Ziv opened fire on the assailant, killing him. A second Jordanian national was also killed. "I am happy to see you here and that things ended the way they did,” Netanyahu told Schlein and Ziv. “You acted well, ...

EXCLUSIVE: FBI General Counsel James A. Baker is purportedly under a Department of Justice criminal investigation for allegedly leaking classified national security information to the media, according to multiple government officials close to the probe who spoke with Circa on the condition of anonymity. FBI spokeswoman Carol Cratty said the bureau would not comment on Baker and would not confirm or deny any investigation. Baker did not return comment when Circa attempted to reach him through the FBI. This comes as Department of Justice Attorney General Jeff Sessions said he would soon be making an announcement regarding the progress of leak investigations. A DOJ official declined to comment on Circa’s inquiry into Baker but did say, the planned announcement by Sessions is part...
Israel Police Chief Roni Alsheich arrived at the Kosel Plaza on Thursday afternoon, 4 Av to deliver a media statement on the situation on Har Habayis following a week of tension. While Alsheich was able to speak with reporters, at some point, right-wing activists including attorney Itamar Ben-Givir and former MK Dr. Michael Ben-Ari began heckling him with shouts of “coward” and “you capitulated”, referring to Israel’s removal of metal detectors from Har Habayis this week. The hecklers accused Alsheich of surrendering to Islamic violence but he continued speaking, explaining Har Habayis is open to all wishing to pray there. Gedolei Yisrael over the generations and the Chief Rabbinate of Israel prohibit visiting Har Habayis, which they explain carries the puni...
They couldn’t pass a repeal of “Obamacare,” or find the votes for a White House-backed replacement. So now Senate Republicans are lowering their sights and trying to unite behind a so-called “skinny repeal” that would merely undo just a few of the most unpopular elements of Barack Obama’s law. The “skinny bill” is an admittedly lowest-common-denominator approach, and it may not even have the votes to pass, either. But as Republicans search for how to keep their years-long effort to repeal and replace “Obamacare” alive, they’re coming to believe that the “skinny bill” may be the only option left. “It still keeps it in play,” said Sen. Steve Daines of Montana. “It’s threading a needle at t...

PM calls for terrorist who slaughtered three Israelis to be executed. 'This lowly terrorist needs to be executed, so he won't smile again.' 56 injured as riots break out in Old City of Jerusalem shortly after Muslim worshippers return to holy site. At least 56 people were injured in the Old City of Jerusalem Thursday, shortly after Muslim worshippers returned to the Temple Mount following a nearly two-week ban by Muslim authorities on prayer at the holy site. Riots broke out within minutes as thousands of Muslims flooded the Temple Mount, attacking police officers who responded with crowd-control measures including tear gas, shock grenades, and rubber bullets. Earlier on Thursday, the Jordanian Waqf – the Muslim trust which manages the Temple Mount – and the Mufti of Jerusalem permitted renewed Muslim prayer on the Mount, after Israel removed security cameras and magnetometer metal detectors...
Russia says the United States and its Western allies rushed to judgment and blamed the Syrian government for using sarin nerve gas in an attack on an opposition-held town in Syria without ever visiting the site and ignoring two witnesses presented by Damascus. It also criticized the report by the fact-finding mission from the chemical weapons watchdog that investigated the incident in Khan Sheikhoun on April 4 which killed more than 90 people, calling it “very biased.” A letter from Russia’s U.N. Mission to Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and the U.N. Security Council circulated Wednesday contains Russia’s assessment of the status of the investigation into the incident in Idlib province. The attack sparked outrage around the world as photos and video of the af...
Picture a loving grandmother who raised her child and grandchildren. Unfortunately, the grandmother is diagnosed with stage four cancer. The chances of a medical cure are slim to none. With their last $10,000 the child and grandchildren spend it on an alternative form of therapy. They are promised the world. Two months later, the grandmother passes away. The family has no money left, and the practitioner is some ten thousand dollars richer. The end-result of course is quite sad. It is even sadder, however, when the cancer was curable, but the alternative healer discouraged the pursuit of chemotherapy or radiation therapy. Stories such as these happen each year across the country. The promotion and belief in ineffective therapies are not harmless. The damage and havoc they wreak translate...
It was back on July 10 when Mayor Catherine Pugh met in Annapolis with Gov. Larry Hogan to discuss ways the state can help address violent crime in the city. On Wednesday, Pugh spoke about the ways the state is helping and it includes technology. “Our police department has obtained a $2 million state grant to provide laptops in city patrol cars this year,” Pugh announced at her weekly City Hall news conference. “This will allow our police to efficiently file reports from the field and check backgrounds on outstanding warrants in real time.” The mayor also says the governor has agreed to restore 16 parole and probation officers to the city that were cut under Gov. Martin O'Malley.  The mayor says that will help authorities keep track of repeat violen...
Romania’s defense minister has confirmed that the country intends to buy Patriot missiles worth $3.9 billion dollars from the United States. Defense Minister Adrian Tutuianu said Wednesday that Romania’s Parliament first needs to pass a law that would allow the acquisition. Tutuianu estimated Romania could begin paying for the missiles by November. His comments were the first time a Romanian official has publicly provided details of the proposed deal. The U.S. State Department approved the sale this month, saying it would help to “improve the security of a NATO ally.” The State Department said the missile system would strengthen Romania’s “homeland defense and deter regional threats,” ”increase the defensive capabilities of the Romanian m...
Against a backdrop of cyberattacks that have grown into full-fledged sabotage, Facebook chief security officer Alex Stamos is bringing a new message to hackers and security experts at the Black Hat conference. In short: it’s time for hackers once known for relatively harmless mischief to shoulder responsibility for helping detect and prevent major attacks. The Black Hat security gathering, starting Wednesday in Las Vegas, follows a series of attacks and data breaches that have paralyzed hospitals, disrupted commerce, caused blackouts and interfered with national elections. Stamos, a keynote speaker, is planning to call for more emphasis on defense — and basic digital hygiene — over the thrilling hunt for undiscovered vulnerabilities. Stamos joined Facebook from Yahoo,...
House Republican allies of President Donald Trump are intent on giving him a long-sought victory in Congress by finally making a down payment on his long-promised wall along the U.S. border with Mexico. They just don’t want to risk an up-or-down vote on the idea that might risk an embarrassing loss on the House floor. The $1.6 billion cost will be covered by taxpayers, not Mexico, as Trump promised over and over during the campaign. Action this week comes about three months after Democrats blocked an earlier attempt to deliver a down payment on Trump’s project. But the August congressional recess is looming, and GOP leaders are making a House win on the border wall a top priority. “This week, we’re going to take action on key elements of the president’s str...
Authorities say an inmate who escaped from a section of New York City’s Rikers Island jail complex has been found on the island. The inmate was captured around 3 a.m. Friday after law enforcement agencies launched a massive manhunt when the prisoner was reported missing Thursday night. 24-year-old burglary suspect Naguan Hill never left the island, and was found around 2:50 a.m. Police say the inmate had jumped a fence at the Anna M. Kross Center Jail, and tried to hide, waiting for a chance to escape the island. The preliminary investigation indicates that some of the inmates may have intentionally distracted two guards while Hill climbed the fence. The jail was placed on lockdown as the New York police, Port Authority police and correction officers searched the island and surro...
