Israel’s economy minister wants to boost the Jewish state’s exports to the US over fivefold by the end of this decade.
In a statement issued as President Donald Trump began his official visit to Israel, Eli Cohen said that “one of our main goals is to increase Israeli exports to the US to more than $100 billion by 2020.”
In 2016, trade of goods between the US and Israel reached $27 billion — $17.6 billion of which consisted of Israeli exports to America. Trade of goods constitutes some 50 percent of economic activity between the two countries. Trading in services constitutes 19 percent, and investments make up the additional 31 percent, according to statistics from Israel’s Ministry of Economy and Industry.

Jewish groups praised President Donald Trump’s historic speech in Saudi Arabia calling on Muslim countries to confront Islamic extremism.
“A better future is only possible if your nations drive out the terrorists and extremists,” Trump said Sunday in his speech to dozens of Muslim leaders in Riyadh.
“Drive. Them. Out. Drive them out of your places of worship,” Trump declared. “Drive them out of your communities. The ramp from I 83/JFX SOUTHBOUND to North Ave will be CLOSED for 24/7 UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE for ongoing concrete repairs.
Acting Director of the Baltimore City Department of Transportation Frank Murphy told WBAL Newsradio 1090 traffic reporter Jim Russ that the construction began over the weekend but could not be completed because of the rain.
Murphy says that the DOT will need to keep the ramp closed until further notice while the repairs are completed. With rain in the forecast this week, it is unclear when that will happen.
Drivers should exit I 83/JFX SOUTHBOUND at either 28th Street, Maryland Avenue, or St Paul Street until the North Avenue ramp reopens.

Five officers tied to the Freddie Gray case face internal discipline and three could be fired, The Baltimore Sun reports.
All five were charged criminally in connection with Gray's 2015 death.
The three who could be fired, sources with knowledge of the case tell the Sun, are Officer Caesar Goodson, who drove the van in which Gray suffered his fatal injuries; Lt. Brian Rice and Sgt. Alicia White.
Officers Edward Nero and Garrett Miller, who initially arrested Gray, could be suspended five days without pay. A sixth officer who was also criminally charged, Officer William Porter, faces no internal discipline.
The internal affairs investigation was carried out by Montgomery and Howard county police departments, who reported back to Baltimore police on May 12.

Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg says his quest this year to visit every state he hadn’t before is about building relationships, not politics.
The 33-year-old billionaire says in a Facebook post that some users have asked if the trip means he’s running for public office. Zuckerberg says he’s not running for anything. Instead, he says the visits around the country are in order “to get a broader perspective.”
He says Facebook is looking to connect users beyond people they already know. He writes that it may be important that the platform connects users to “people you should know.” He describes those as people outside a user’s social circle that as he says “provide a new source of support and inspiration.”

The White House has put “Jerusalem, Israel,” on its website.
U.S. policy doesn’t hold that the city is part of Israel. Rather, Democratic and Republican administrations have said Jerusalem’s status must be solved through U.S. negotiation.
A screen previewing upcoming statements by President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu noted the location as “Jerusalem, Israel.”
No explanation was given for the dateline.
The Trump administration had said ahead of the president’s trip that he wouldn’t recognize Jerusalem as Israel’s capital, a pledge he made during the campaign.

President Donald Trump’s budget would drive millions of people off of food stamps, part of a new wave of spending cut proposals that already are getting panned by lawmakers in both parties on Capitol Hill.
Trump’s blueprint for the 2018 budget year comes out Tuesday. It includes a wave of cuts to benefit programs such as Medicaid, federal employee pensions, welfare benefits and farm subsidies.
All told, according to people familiar with the plan, Trump’s budget includes $1.7 trillion over 10 years in cuts from such so-called mandatory programs. On the eve of the first visit to Israel by President Donald Trump, the Security Cabinet voted to approve good-will measures for the PA (Palestinian Authority). All of the minister with the exception of Naftali Bennet and Ayelet Shaked (Bayit Yehudi) gave their approval for the move. It is reported all of the good-will measures are economic and civil and not security related.
The good -will measures increasing operating hours at the Allenby Crossing to Jordan, an increase in Palestinian construction in areas ‘C’, with the latter under total Israeli control, and additional industrial zones for the PA.
Bennet was particularly vocal in his objections to additional PA construction in areas ‘C’, which are under total Israeli control.

President Donald Trump says he never “mentioned the word or the name Israel” during a recent conversation with top Russian diplomats.
Speaking alongside Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Trump was referencing revelations that he divulged classified information about an Islamic State threat in a recent meeting with Russia’s foreign minister and ambassador.
U.S. officials said the information originated from Israel.
Trump says, “I never mentioned the word or the name Israel in that conversation.” Netanyahu added that U.S.-Israeli intelligence cooperation is “terrific.”
Trump says it’s another story the news media has gotten wrong.

An Arab terrorist attempted to stab several order police officers in the Jerusalem neighborhood of Abu-Dis Monday afternoon.
The attempted stabbing attack occurred near the near the Kiosk checkpoint, police said.
No injuries were reported. The terrorist was shot and killed.
The attack occurred as US President Donald Trump made his first visit to Israel, including stops at the President's Residence and the Western Wall.

Members of key congressional committees are pledging a full public airing as to why former FBI director James Comey was ousted amid an intensifying investigation into Russia’s interference with the U.S. election.
The probe appears to be reaching close to President Donald Trump and his inner circle.
In Sunday show appearances, both Republican and Democratic lawmakers said they will press Comey in hearings as to whether he ever felt that Trump tried to interfere with his FBI work. Others are insisting on seeing any White House or FBI documents that detail conversations between the two, following a spate of news reports that Comey had kept careful records.

Remember the Republican health care bill?
Washington is fixated on President Donald Trump’s firing of FBI chief James Comey and burgeoning investigations into possible connections between Trump’s presidential campaign and Russia.
But in closed-door meetings, Senate Republicans are trying to write legislation dismantling President Barack Obama’s health care law. They would substitute their own tax credits, ease coverage requirements and cut the federal-state Medicaid program for the poor and disabled that Obama enlarged.
The House passed its version this month, but not without difficulty, and now Republicans who run the Senate are finding hurdles, too.

The condition of the Betar Illit resident found in cardiac arrest in his room near the tziyun of Rav Nachman on erev Shabbos remains serious. Chaim Meir Simcha ben Rus was supposed to be flown to Jerusalem’s Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital, however, due to the US president visiting Israel, the flight from Uman has been delayed.
The flight was arranged with the assistance of Hatzoloh Ukraine and despite the fact the patient was onboard the plane Sunday night, he had to be returned to the Kiev hospital due to technical problems that are not being detailed.
