That Monday, she argued that then-national security adviser Michael Flynn had the “full confidence” of President Trump. Flynn resigned from his post later that day amid revelations that he misled Vice President Pence about the nature of his conversations with the Russian ambassador. And on Tuesday, White House press secretary Sean Spicer said Trump asked for Flynn’s resignation. That directly contradict...

On the occasion of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s state visit Down Under, a renowned Australian-Israeli pundit told The Algemeiner that the only thing he sees as possibly threatening “historically outstanding bipartisan” Canberra-Jerusalem ties is the strengthening of problematic elements within the country’s Labour party and far-Left groups. Otherwise, Isi Leibler — a former World Jewish Congress official who made Aliyah in 1999 and resides in the Israeli capital — gave rave reviews to what he called Netanyahu’s “extremely important and timely trip,” particularly in the context of global events, “which cemented an already tight bond.” This was evident, Leibler explained, in the “warm support” tha...

Brussels - The Conference of European Rabbis (CER) announced Wednesday that the Jewish community in Belgium had triumphed in its battle for kosher meat, after a court permitted the continuation of shechita. The constitutional court of Belgium’s southern Wallonia region announced Tuesday that shechita is permissible under that country’s law and will continue to be conducted according to Jewish religious law. According to a statement released by the CER, the court ruled that “the restriction of kosher slaughter excessively and unreasonably restricts freedom of religion and seriously harms the fundamental laws of human rights and religious rights in Belgium.”The decision comes after several legislators of the parliament of Wallonia last month launched a campaign ...

A student activist at University of Washington (UW) told The Algemeiner that campus police have said there is “little they can do” about the vandalization of a display “promoting peace in Israel and Palestine.” Uri Zvi — a member of a bipartisan pro-Israel student coalition Chai UW — said he was told by officers that the “chances are very, very slim of finding” the unidentified male who ran up to the group’s display of educational materials; behaved in a menacing manner toward the students manning the table; ripped a sign in two; and fled the scene. The sign, which was made by students affiliated with the left-wing organization J Street, read, “Pro-Palestine, Pro-Israel, Pro-Peace.” “Th...

A navigation error forced SpaceX to delay its shipment to the International Space Station on Wednesday, following an otherwise flawless flight from NASA’s historic moon pad. SpaceX’s supply ship, the Dragon, was less than a mile from the orbiting outpost when a problem cropped up in the GPS system. The approach was aborted, and the Dragon backed away. NASA said neither the station nor its six-person crew was in any danger. “As a pilot it is sometimes better to accelerate and circle around than attempt a difficult landing,” French astronaut Thomas Pesquet said in a tweet from the space station. “Same in space – we’ll be ready tomorrow!” Just a few hours earlier, Russia successfully launched a cargo ship from Kazakhstan, its first since a fa...
