A teenager killed his father at their home Wednesday before going to a nearby elementary school and opening fire with a handgun, wounding two students and a teacher, authorities said. Garland Major with the Anderson County sheriff's office said. Both students were male. The female teacher was hit in the shoulder. Washington (CNN) The FBI has discovered attempted hacks of voter registration sites in more than a dozen states according to two law enforcement officials. US investigators believe that Russia is behind those attempted hacks the officials said. Earlier Wednesday, FBI Director James Comey spoke of additional attempted hacks at a House Judiciary Committee hearing in Washington, but did not specify a number. "There have been a variety of scanning activities which is a preamble for potential intrusion activities as well as some attempted intrusions at voter database registrations beyond those we knew about in July and August. We are urging the states just to make sure that their deadbolts are thrown and their locks are on and to get the best information they can from DHS jus...
A majority of Americans say Democrat Hillary Clinton won Monday night's presidential debate, but her performance doesn't appear to have boosted her level of support among likely voters, according to a Reuters/Ipsos national tracking poll released on Wednesday. The online poll, which gathered responses from more than 2,000 people on Tuesday, found that 56 percent of American adults felt that Clinton did a better job than Trump in the first of their three televised debates, compared with 26 percent who felt that Trump did better. U.S. presidential debates have historically been seen as a crucial test of candidates' poise and policies. They also provide a major platform for the candidates to try to win over millions of undecided voters.   Among those who ...

Agudath Israel of America notes with sadness the passing of Shimon Peres, former Prime Minister and President of the state of Israel, at the age of 93. Throughout his long political career, Shimon Peres displayed great respect for the Orthodox Jewish community and its rabbinic leaders.  Mr. Peres repeatedly defended the religious status quo against those who sought to undermine the Jewish character of Israel.  On a personal level, he enjoyed a warm relationship with a number of charedi and dati leaders and activists. On one of his last trips to Israel, the late president of Agudath Israel, Rabbi Moshe Sherer, met with then Prime Minister Peres and praised him for his strong support of maintaining the unity of the Jewish people by standing firm in support of the religious s...

A senior commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) says Iran is in possession of missiles with a range enough to reach Israel, Press TV reports. “We do not need missiles with a range of over 2,000 kilometers. The longest range required for [Iran’s] missiles is the [Israeli] occupied lands,” Commander of the IRGC’s Aerospace Division Brigadier General Amirali Hajizadeh told reporters on Tuesday, adding that Iran has already the necessary missiles for this purpose. Iran is a country capable of producing missiles, the IRGC commander said, adding, “The Zionist regime is our biggest target.”
Two men seen removing an unexploded bomb from a suitcase left on the street by the Chelsea bomber have been identified by the FBI. Officials say the pair are both Egyptian pilots who have since left the U.S., presumably to return to Egypt. Their names have not yet been made public. The men had been seen on surveillance video removing the bomb from luggage on West 27th Street, Manhattan, at around 8pm on the night of the Chlsea bombing attack on September 17. They dumped the pressure cooker explosive on the street – which was soon discovered by local New Yorkers who reported it to the police. The men made off with the case. FBI officials previously said that the two men were not considered suspects, but said that agents were keen to speak to them. They released surveillance foota...

Hundreds of people scheduled to leave New York on Wednesday night for Uman have just been notified that the flight has been cancelled. The tickets were sold by a well-respected travel agency, and the passengers were being flown on a privately chartered 747. The flight was advertised as a direct flight. Although it is unclear about why exactly the flight was cancelled, sources tell YWN that the flight did not have the appropriate landing permits in Ukraine, prompting the cancellation of the flight. Passengers who spoke to the travel agency are being told that their money was being refunded, and being told that they can try and make alternate travel arrangements.

Jerusalem, Israel - Sept. 28, 2016 - Writer Chaim Potok is reported to have said, "Come, let us have some tea and continue to talk about happy things." In Israel, tea drinking is seasonal. Nevertheless, erev Rosh Hashanna is the perfect season to talk about tea and happy things.   After gourmet coffee, tea is becoming a new trend. Tea was always popular in the east, but now it is also becoming more popular in west. Teas have less caffeine than coffee. According to the Mayo Clinic, 8 ounces of brewed coffee contains 95-200 mg, while black tea has 14-70 mg, and green tea 24- 45 mg of caffeine. Ceremonie Tea, based in Israel, was founded in 2007. U.S. Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump’s estimated net worth is $3.7 billion, $800 million less than a year ago, Forbes magazine reported on Wednesday, attributing the loss largely to New York’s softening real estate market. The magazine probed 28 assets or asset classes owned by the New York businessman and found 18 had declined in value, including Trump Tower in Manhattan and his Mar-a-Lago club in Palm Beach, Florida. The value of his 40 Wall Street property in downtown New York had also declined, according to Forbes, which said it has been tracking Trump’s wealth for 34 years. At the same time, one asset remained steady while seven others – including 555 California Street, the second tallest building in San Francisco – saw their valu...
