U.S. Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump’s estimated net worth is $3.7 billion, $800 million less than a year ago, Forbes magazine reported on Wednesday, attributing the loss largely to New York’s softening real estate market.
The magazine probed 28 assets or asset classes owned by the New York businessman and found 18 had declined in value, including Trump Tower in Manhattan and his Mar-a-Lago club in Palm Beach, Florida.
The value of his 40 Wall Street property in downtown New York had also declined, according to Forbes, which said it has been tracking Trump’s wealth for 34 years.

TOWNVILLE, S.C. — Law enforcement and emergency crews are responding to a possible shooting at a South Carolina elementary school.
Anderson County Sheriff’s Office Lt. Sheila Cole confirmed to WYFF that the shooting was reported at Townville Elementary in Anderson County.
Armed officers were at the school by about 2 p.m.
There is no word on injuries at this time.

The father of New York and New Jersey bombing suspect Ahmad Rahami told ABC News that his wife and one of his other sons have been detained in Afghanistan, after being pulled off a flight in Dubai and questioned for 16 hours by authorities there.
In his first in-depth broadcast interview, Mohammad Rahami said his wife, Najiba Rahami, and son Qassim Rahami were trying to return to the U.S. when they were held in the United Arab Emirates and eventually sent to Kabul.
"Why send my son back to Afghanistan? He is a U.S. citizen. You have any questions? Bring him home. [Don't] send him to a different country," Mohammad Rahami said.

BERLIN – German prosecutors have opened an investigation into allegations of vote-rigging in an election for Berlin's Jewish community parliament.
A spokesman for the prosecutor's office, Martin Steltner, said they are looking into alleged forging of documents in connection with the 2011 election.
Opposition members within the Jewish community have alleged for years that the top leadership was involved in voting fraud — something the leadership has denied.

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Senate has rejected President Barack Obama's veto of legislation that would allow the families of Sept. 11 victims to sue Saudi Arabia for the kingdom's alleged backing of the attackers.
Senators voted 97-1 Wednesday to override Obama's decision to scuttle the bill. The override vote came even as the president and top military officials warned the measure could put U.S. troops and interests at risk.
A House vote is expected later Wednesday. If the House also overrides, the bill becomes law.
During his nearly two terms in office, Obama has never had a veto overridden by Congress.
Families of the victims disputed Obama's reasons for vetoing the bill and pushed lawmakers to overturn his decision.

MADRID – Officials say police in Spain, Belgium and Germany have arrested five people that allegedly formed part of a cell that spread propaganda and sought to recruit militants for the Islamic State armed group.
The Spanish Interior Ministry said the five arrested Wednesday worked for the Islamic State group by spreading information on several internet sites, among them a Facebook page called "Islam en Espanol" (Islam in Spanish), which was managed by two suspects arrested in Belgium and Germany. It said the site had 32,500 followers.

BlackBerry Ltd. reported fiscal second-quarter sales that missed analyst estimates and said it will stop making its iconic smartphones and focus on its software business. The shares rose in premarket trading in New York.

World leaders to converge on Har Herzl this Friday for massive state funeral for Shimon Peres.
A government committee within the Ministry of Culture and Sport charged with planning state events is preparing for what is expected to be the largest state funeral since Nelson Mandela’s in 2013.
President Shimon Peres, who passed away early Wednesday morning, will lay in state in the Knesset on Thursday. Flags at all state institutions, army bases, and police stations will be flown at half-mast.
The funeral is scheduled to take place on Friday at Har Herzl in Jerusalem. Peres will be buried in a plot near Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin.
