After traffic was stopped in on Falls Road following a nearby bank robbery, an encounter with one vehicle led a police patrol sergeant to shoot and kill a suspect Friday afternoon.
Both men were wanted in several bank robberies, including one that had just taken place.
Police responded at 1:08 p.m. to the Wells Fargo Bank in the 1500 block of Reisterstown Road. In short order, the sergeant shut down traffic at Falls and Old Court roads, what was thought to be a likely escape route.

B'nei Yisrael are commanded (27:4) that after they cross the Yardein they are to set down the rocks on Har Eival, etc. In the gemara Sanhedrin 44a, R' Shaila teaches that Yehoshua did not act accordingly as the pasuk instructed to perform this ceremony immediately after crossing the Yardein but he travelled for 60 mil. Tosafos asks an obvious question. B'nei Yisrael were clearly commanded to follow these proceedings on Har Grizim and Har Eival. Is it Yehoshua's fault that these mountains were 60 mil from the Yardein?

With Rosh Hashanah quickly approaching, only 11 days left, I would like to turn our attention from this week’s Parsha of Ki Savo and focus on this great holiday. On the surface, Rosh Hashanah which celebrates the creation of Adam and Eve, seems to have no direct relationship to the Jewish people any more than it relates to the rest of the world. It is the birthday of Man’s original ancestor. However, as we take a closer look we will discover that this is not the case. Join me in this exploration.

Multiple sources close to Ted Cruz say the Texas senator is expected indicate his support for Donald Trump as soon as Friday.
It is unclear whether Cruz will say only that he is voting for the Republican nominee, as other lawmakers have done, or offer a more full-throated endorsement, but the idea of throwing any support to Trump is controversial within Cruzworld.
“If he announces he endorses, it destroys his political brand,” said someone who had worked for Cruz's campaign.

We regret to inform you of the tragic Petira of 11-year-old Dovi Sass Z”L, who was struck in the head by a baseball last week.
As had reported, Dovi was playing baseball near his home in Edmonton, Canada, when the horrible tragedy occurred.
Tens of thousands of people were Mispallel for his recovery, and people donated Tzedakah in the merit of his speedy recovery. A campaign was launched on The Chesed Fund to raise money for Hachnosas Kallah in his Zechus. Klal Yisroel in its incredible act of caring for another Jew in pain donated $65,000 in just FOUR days. More than 950 people – most of whom do not know this precious Neshama or his family – donated graciously in his merit. This money will surely be a Zechus for his Neshama, as he ascends to Shomayim.

The Rabbinical Council of America strongly objects to the latest decisions of the Chief Rabbinate of Israel's office rejecting the endorsement of leading rabbinic figures in North America of the status of four converts. While we have worked assiduously with the Rabbinate in the past to assure the integrity of converts, recent missteps by its office have led to these latest decisions; we are working to reverse them.

The trial of Kendall Felix, the man accused of helping to murder Brooklyn-landlord Menachem Stark, is coming to an end. The jury is deliberating as of Friday morning. Attorneys delivered their closing arguments yesterday, and it was a tense day for nearly everyone involved. The only exception? Pollard says health improved, does not believe he will be allowed to visit Israel.
Jonathan Pollard recently expressed pessimism regarding his chances of coming home to Israel.
In an exclusive interview with Channel 1's Amir Bar-Shalom, Pollard said his health had improved greatly since his release.
In answer to the question of whether the Israeli government had abandoned him, Pollard replied, "The nation is with me."

(AFP). Pulitzer prize-winning historian Saul Friedlander, a world authority on the Holocaust, said Friday he would leave the United States if Donald Trump was elected president.
The 83-year-old Israeli-American writer, who escaped the Nazis by being hidden in a Catholic boarding school in France, described Trump as a “dangerous crazy”.
He said the controversial Republican candidate could win November’s election because of Hillary Clinton’s “tendency to lie and to hide things”.

Before Rosh haShannah we read brochos and klollos of Mishna Torah. Why did Chazal make such a chiyuv?
As we approach Rosh Hashono, we approach the Yom Hadin. We have to take serious inventory about what our yiddishkeit means to us, what Torah means to us, and how are we measuring up to what the Torah demands of us.
The brochos and klolos of Mishna Torah begin with an introduction. There was a first bris made between Klal Yisroel and Hashem on Har Sinai, and a second bris is being made in Arvos Moav with the new generation of the Jewish People 40 years later who will be entering into Eretz Yisroel.
